Fake it? Shorts - American Apparel vs Forever21

So I've been on the hunt for a pastel pair of shorts and I came across the AA pair which I loved. Pink and blue are the best combination, right? But £54 is way way way too much for a pair of shorts. So I found a very similar pair in Forever 21 for about £16. 

When the Forever21 shorts came I was so disappointed because they weren't pink and blue. They were pink and a green with a really faded yellow. I thought I should suck it up and buy the expensive pair of American Apparel shorts since they were pretty much exactly the same except the AA pair were pink and blue...or so I thought. They were also pink and green. Maybe it's my eyes or screen resolution because whenever I order things online they're never the colour I think they will be.

I'm going to do a comparison of them anyway since they are so similar and you can tell F21 pretty much copied AA's design.

On the left are the AA shorts, the right F21. In the picture it looks like the shorts are a sort of blue and pink when it fact they're both green and pink. The AA pair on the left in particular are a really obvious green. This explains why I thought the shorts on the website were pink and blue. 

The worn photos and above photo don't show the true colour because I used flash and it was shot at night. This is in natural light with no flash and is a better representation of the shorts' actual colour. AA on the left F21 on the right.

The yellow in particular is very vibrant on the AA shorts.

The F21 shorts look so washed out compared to the AA ones.

Now worn photos. First off, American Apparel. I ordered a size 26/27 because I have a UK size 8 waist and a UK size 10 derrière so I thought that would be the best size. My waist is about 26 and a half, so I thought it would be the perfect size but the shorts fit very tightly and was squeezing me so in fact they come up a bit small. It fit my bum snugly and my legs nicely as the cut on the legs is slim.

Next were the Forever21 shorts which I got in a 27. The waist was way too big as was the rest of it so maybe I should have got a 26. Even so, it just didn't seem to fit anything it was even big on my bum and humongous for my legs.

Wondering why the shorts are so big...

Overall I was disappointed with the colour for both shorts but if you prefer the pink and green colour block I would definitely recommend American Apparel over Forever21. Not only was the colour completely washed out on the F21 shorts, the fit was awful and the material was bad too. Usually I'm happy with F21 but this time was bad. However they are £40 cheaper than the AA shorts. If you want better quality go with the American Apparel shorts.
