Hey!
This time we have Dr Martens against Forever21. I had been searching for the Dr Martens limited QQ Pearl in pink for ages so when I saw the F21 boots I got them straight away. They were not only identical but they were about £60 cheaper.
On the left are the Dr Martens and the right are the F21. They look so similar it's a joke but they're completely different shoes when you wear them.
Firstly, the F21 boots. Exactly the same colour as the Dr Martens but without the 'pearl' effect, so it has a smooth, matte finish rather than a slightly shimmery one. The laces are thinner and the stitching and tread are also different so they wouldn't be mistaken for Dr Martens up close but they're a pretty good match. They're not as slim fitting on the ankle or the foot itself as Dr Martens follow the shape of the foot whereas these don't. Looking at them they're good shoes but when you put them on it's a whole different matter. I wore them for one day for about 3 hours when I went shopping and they ripped up the skin on the back of my ankles so badly my blisters got blisters. I had to limp all the way home. I was even wearing socks, which got serious amounts of blood on them.
Literally a week after I bought the F21 shoes a pair of QQ pearl Dr Martens in pink popped up on eBay and I bought them three minutes after the seller had listed them. They're so comfortable and fit better in all the ways the F21 boots didn't. They didn't tear my skin to shreds either.
There's a reason Dr Martens are renowned for their quality of shoe and I think it's definitely worth the hefty price tag.
