Pleated skirts are an absolute essential. Don't ask me why they just are. So I recently saw Sheinside do an exact copy of the American Apparel tennis skirt and I was really excited because I really don't want to spend another £46 on a skirt (even though I already have three, oops).
Exactly the same, right? From the stock photo it looks like a perfect replica at a huge discounted price. But I looked at a customer review with a photo attached...
Not at all the same quality! From owning the AA skirt I know that it doesn't crease easily and the material is thick and such a good quality. From the customer's photo (I blocked her face out just in case she didn't want her photo to be used) you can see the pleats have practically disappeared and sure, you can just iron them back but honestly ironing pleats is such a pain. I'm not sure if it's the lighting but the colour of the skirt isn't the same either. I own the AA tennis skirt in lilac and I love it. I rarely find clothes that accommodate both my waist and bum size, they're either too big on my waist and fit my bum or vice versa. The skirt does both as well as being the perfect length for me ie super short but still covers everything. This post shows me wearing the AA skirt but I'm wearing an oversized tshirt so all you can see is the length. But you can tell it has defined pleats and is the right colour.
Verdict! Without a doubt, American Apparel. Save up, it's worth the hefty price tag.

I think that is a one off skirt (to look like that i mean). I've seen so many other people post pictures of their tennis skirt dupes and the materials look sturdy and in shape like the american apparel ones. I have the navy one and the material is really good quality~
ReplyDeleteAh fair enough if you have one! I was so tempted to buy one but I'm really wary of websites like Sheinside and Choies but if you say it's good quality then there's no reason to doubt you. I might have to reconsider hmmm xx
DeleteBad picture I've seen way better posted on the site. This girl obviously didn't iron her shirt and the picture is definitely photoshopped, just look at her shirt and arms.
