Nippori Fabric Town (BTS Puricuties)

Hey!

My friend/photographer for the day took a bunch of us to Nippori which has a street famous for selling fabrics and sewing bits and bobs. I've always wanted to make my own clothes so this was a really cool opportunity to check out one of the lesser known attractions of Tokyo.

The shops sold patterns to make clothing as well as fabrics so hopefully I'll soon be making use of those! I really like the fact that although Tokyo is a huge metropolitan city it still retains areas like this that haven't been completely taken over by commercialisation. When I say that I mean there isn't a Pret A Manger instead of a haberdashery! There is a chain of fabric stores called Tomato which sell cheap, good quality fabric as well as independent stores all along the street.

There are also small kimono shops selling kimono that are quite cheap - from around £8! Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy textiles.

While we were out I wanted to get a few good snaps of my outfit to put on PuriCuties but the lighting wasn't great, the settings weren't great either and I felt bad making my technophobic friend take pictures of me. But it had to be done for the blog!!

The struggle was real! But we finally took some good photos so head on over to PuriCuties to see the final result!
