Last weekend I went to Hyperjapan which is a huge convention held in London which showcases Japanese kawaii culture and fashion. I've been going to Hyperjapan since 2010 so I thought it was about time I participated! I took part in the fashion show where I met some amazing people with such kawaii fashion sense and it was so fun to be a part of.
The fashion show was separated into different Japanese fashion genres and I was under 'Harajuku' so in my mind that means anything goes! The others were things such as gyaru, lolita, aomoji-kei and fairy/pastel kei. On the Saturday I wore my Phoebe Lettice x Illustrated People crop top and skirt set which I feel is like my signature outfit now, with loose socks from Japan and white Buffalo platforms. I felt like I stood out a lot because my outfit wasn't 100% j-fashion but I think that's a good thing.
I was so nervous for the first show as I've never modelled or done a catwalk so I improvised the poses when I got on stage. By the second show I was a lot more relaxed but I was taken aback by the amount of people watching and all the people taking pictures. I honestly felt like a celebrity that weekend with all the photographers asking to take photos of me.
Here are a few group shots, individual shots and selfies!

The next few photos are from the Sunday show. I thought I ought to go with the same sort of theme from the previous day so I wore my KESH x American Apparel crop top and leggings with black and white Buffalo platforms. I also discovered I could do a sort of fountain/Chinese Imperial Princess hairstyle which I thought went really well with the outfit.

As well as the fashion show there are loads of stalls that sell all kinds of Japan related and cute things, so in between the shows I did a little shopping. I bought a My Melody decoden phone case from Suga Dust which weighs a tonne but I don't mind because it's so cool.
I also bought a Sailor Moon lip balm (it says lipstick but it's a lip balm) which has the most gorgeous packaging and smells absolutely wonderful, I am in love.
In the name of the Moon I shall punish you!
Finally, I bought clothes from a brand called Typical Freaks which shall be featured in my next post! I had so much fun at Hyperjapan hopefully I'll be in the fashion show next year!
Choom xoxo
