Fake it? Romwe vs the world

Hey!

So I was on my Lookbook feed and one of my faves popped up, Bebe Zeva, looking as badass as ever in this blue flamed dress from Romwe. I did think to myself that maybe I had seen this dress before and I remembered I had, a while ago on ASOS.

This is Bebe's look ft the Romwe dress. Awesome.

This is the original by Evil Twin.

While searching for the dress on Romwe I stumbled upon a number of familiar items...

Isn't this a close up of an ASOS model?

It says Joyrich on it...

Again...it says Joyrich
Let's count...One...

Two...

Three...

That's three Discount Universe knock offs!!

There were other items that looked familiar but these were the really obvious rip offs, and to think I only went through the tops, imagine if I had looked through the whole website. It really infuriates me that Romwe has got away with such a blatant use of other people's brands. I am being slightly hypocritical here in that I do own one pair of shoes that I knew were an exact copy of UNIF's Mary Janes (therefore I'm not entirely innocent) but at the same time I don't condone the use of the brand's name and logo on something that wasn't made by them. This is of course, a very slippery slope as I do sometimes opt for the 'fake' version in my 'fake it?' posts, but in these cases it's not a blatant disregard of the branding. For example in my Zara vs Choies post the print is so recognisable I couldn't bring myself to buy the Choies dress, and I voted for it simply because the Zara dress is sold out. This is hardly comparable to the Sheinside vs American Apparel post because a pleated skirt could be from anywhere, it's just a lilac pleated skirt. However it is very much a case of 'blurred lines' which is why I avoid online sellers such as Choies, Sheinside and Romwe who are known to steal from huge brands but also using artwork they've found online without the artists knowledge and printing it on clothing.

The above items, especially the tops with 'Joyrich' printed on them, are not listed as being resold by Romwe for the brand, they're just large scale poorly made knock off's which are immensely cheaper and therefore more attractive to consumers and hugely damaging to the respective brands.

This post was in no way disrespect to Bebe whose style I ADORE, it's just to showcase the sort of things Romwe and other online sellers do and the damage they cause.
