Anime

Hey!

So far this blog has been mainly about fashion but I want to talk about something a little different. I love Japanese anime and I honestly prefer watching that to watching programmes with real people, I just like cartoons generally. Here's a list of anime I like in no particular order. NOTE: Never ask someone to name their favourite anime because they will probably become very flustered and confused.

1. Sailor Moon

This 1994 classic got me into anime and manga. I don't even remember how it happened I just had a vague memory of watching it when I was younger and next thing I know it's all I watch. I watched seasons one to four over the summer and refused to watch season five until a few years later because I didn't want the series to be over...even though it ended twenty ish years ago! Thank god for the 20th anniversary season so now I can relive my childhood all over again and cry all over again. I get emotional watching Sailor Moon/anime in general I cry at the end of every season...

I just love the eternal love Usagi and Mamoru (Serena and Darien in the dub) have for each other it's the cutest thing, although the age gap is pretty questionable. Everything about this anime is the epitome of the perfect magical girl anime, after watching it I can garuntee you will be trying to transform into a Sailor Senshi and shouting ridiculous things like 'Star Gentle Uterus' (yes it was an attack I'm not joking). And that hairstyle is iconic!

2. Fairy Tail

One of my more recent discoveries I've been watching for the past year and I'm absolutely hooked. It's absolutely hilarious and I haven't been disappointed so far. I'm only up to episode 140 because I spent an entire summer watching it and crying over a certain arc so I thought I should stop for a while and I haven't caught up since then. It has all the ingredients of a good anime, magic, jokes, amazing characters (honestly who doesn't love Happy), characters that you lust after I'm looking at you Gray and for a long running series it hasn't become boring...yet. I've heard the arc I stopped at the show isn't as good but I'll give it a chance anyway seeing as the 2014 series has just started airing. Also, Julia Lockser is one of my fashion icons.

The only tattoo I would consider getting!

3. Death Note

Another classic. This anime is literally mind blowing and so cleverly written. It's a world apart from Fairy Tail's explosive over the top world with twists and turns at every turn, Death Note is very subtle and dark but so interesting. It's one of the first times an anime has actually been thought provoking which is interesting but it says a lot for the power of media. If you want something deeper and a programme to really get into Death Note is for you.

Misa Amane awoke the punk girl in me.

4. Rozen Maiden

I don't think this is as popular as the others but I really liked this anime. For me the look of the character is really important as you can probably tell I pick the best dressed they don't pick what they wear they're not real oh well. So Rozen Maiden provided very frilly costumes for me to admire throughout the series and a compelling story as well. Of course it's a fantasy series, following the theme of anime I usually watch.

5. Watamote

If you want to be rolling around in tears for about an hour in stitches, just watch this. It. Is. Hilarious. I felt kind of bad for the main character at times because she is just a really lonely otaku girl who doesn't know how to make friends and the series is basically 12 episodes of being able to laughing at her. No magic involved, this a slice of life anime of a very weird high school girl who wants to become popular and make friends.

I think the picture says it all.
