Amanda Palmer

Hey!

So if you saw my TMI Tag on Youtube you'll know I love Amanda 'Fucking' Palmer. She is one of my favourite musicians and has been since I was about 12 years old. I went to her concert for the third time on Monday and today I went to a book signing (I didn't have her book just a tshirt from her concert.)

The concert was simply incredible. She is a true performer and deviated from her set list to take requests from the audience. In true AFP fashion everything was bizarrely wonderful and unexpected. Her opening act Perhaps Contraption was an amazing band consisting mostly of brass instruments and played cool alternative songs. I wouldn't know what genre to even class them in but whatever it was it was pretty cool. Amanda played my all time favourite songs of hers in succession; Missed Me, Bigger On The Inside, The Bed Song, causing me and my friend Erin to burst into tears at the perfection of it all. The atmosphere, the music, the special guests (Caitlin Moran?!), it was all too much for us.

Erin and I waited about 4 hours in the queue for AFP to sign our tshirt and to be honest it was totally worth the wait. I asked her to write 'kawaii' on my tshirt and she was like 'whaaaaat? Kawaii??' So I explained it was the Japanese word for 'cute' and she was like oh 'kawaiiiii' in a really high pitched voice. It was so cute!! The best part was after signing my tshirt she took a picture of me on her phone holding the tshirt!! I was so happy!!!

She is one of my biggest inspirations. Not only is her music absolute perfection, she has also written a book, gave an inspirational TED Talk, launched the biggest ever kickstarter campaign which provoked international attention, creates music without a record label and despite being 6 months pregnant still goes on tour and gives the best live performances for her fans. She's truly a one of a kind human being and I love and adore her.
