I love music of all kinds and mixing with different crowds so I was really excited to go to this free (yes, FREE) music festival held in Dalston and hosted by Koppaberg. The space was in a car park round the back of a pub, it was so hipster it was unreal. And if that wasn't hipster enough, the crowd that went was literally the epitome of the East End London hipster trend. Bowl cuts, bobs and buns everywhere. There were three live acts and one DJ. The first live act, the only one I've got pictures of played really trippy, advert sounding music. The lead had a really good Ellie Goulding like voice and the girl on drums had the biggest tshirt I had ever seen, forget oversized it was just ridiculous. The second act was a bit more lively and I really liked her set, and she was followed by a DJ. The final act was Kelis who seemed to have the shortest 30 minute set ever. She played 'Milkshake' which is an absolute tune and remixed it with some 80's songs which was interesting.
The whole thing was really cool and had good live acts (to be honest I was expected some awkward indie bands) so it was a pleasant surprise. The only thing I have to say is the place was decked out to look like a forest and there were tree stumps and benches to sit on which needed serious sanding. Anyway, I'm looking forward to my next music festival, Wireless, which was waaaaaaay more expensive than this but I'm really excited!
